Development of Turkish National HEPP Project and Modernizing the Existings (MILHES)
TUBITAK MRC Energy Institute has the following research capabilities for turbomachinery aerodynamics : Steady-state and transient CFD analysis of existing hydro turbines. Design and optimization of new turbine runner and guidevanes. Feasibility calculations for refurbishment and calculation of optimum operating condition. Efficiency measurements of hydraulic turbines : using ultrasonic flow measurement probes, pressure transducers and power analysers according to IEC 60041standarts. Hardwares and softwares :

HASAN UGURLU HESPP 4×125 MW Francis Turbines : (completed) Steady-state and transient CFD analysis of existing units and design of new runner and guidevanes, vibration measurements and feasibility calculations. KARAKAYA HEPP 6×300 MW Francis Turbines : (completed) Efficiency measurements of the turbines according to IEC 60041 standard.
