Project objective

To combine Norwegian competence from meteorology, oceanography, the maritime industry and the offshore oil and gas industry with and leading Danish and international communities on wind energy in order to provide innovative and cost efficient solutions for the offshore wind industry.

Expected outcome

Improved understanding of the Marine Atmospheric Boundary Layer (MABL) and the links between offshore wind profiles, atmospheric stability and turbulence. Improved tools for wind resource assessment, wind farm layout, marine operations and risk based maintenance and operations. NORCOWE Reference Wind Farm and data from the comprehensive measurement campaign at FINO1 will be available for the offshore wind research community. 20 PhD candidates and 5 post. docs and more than 30 master students.
